Air Jordan

I/D.W Post was pleased to partner with photographer Julia Comita and creative director Alex Palomo to realize their vision for a digital campaign based on the iconic Air Jordan brand.

The creative direction was inspired by the diversity of the models and the unique attributes that every pair of sneakers brought out in the movement, attitude and energy of each individual shot.

Custom color treatment

Expert handling of skintone, density, saturation and contrast can evoke different emotional responses in a viewer depending on what is envisioned.

As a first step, I/D.W Post conducted a thorough color exploration in order to determine where the creative team wanted the imagery to go, with the approved final direction informing next steps for the campaign look and feel.

COLOR STYLE 1 / 4

  • Bright skintones
  • Saturated colors
  • Medium density on ground and sky
  • Light filled overall feel

COLOR STYLE 2 / 4

  • Bright skintones
  • Slightly washed out, desaturated ground and sky
  • Saturated skintones and wardrobe pop out from background

COLOR STYLE 3 / 4

  • Low contrast skintones, mysterious
  • Bright sky for backlit feel
  • Medium saturation overall

APPROVED STYLE 4 / 4

  • Medium density skintones
  • Saturated environment and wardrobe
  • Slightly muted saturation on skintones

Retouching

Great images deserve close attention to detail. I/D.W Post cleaned up skin, wardrobe and ground, replaced the sky with a gradient that shifted per subject, and perfected the product to Nike refs.

Creative director Alex Palomo needed to be able to bring the files into Illustrator for integration into his layouts, running type and graphic treatments between the shadow and the background. We handed off PSDs with subject, shadow and background layers, allowing him to carry out his creative vision.

The retouched and layered files were then brought into Illustrator in order to integrate with text and graphic elements for the final treatment.

Please get in touch if you'd like to see more work or have a collaboration in mind. We'd love to hear from you.
